The Frog Museum displays a collection, unique in the world, of 108 stuffed frogs in human postures depicting everyday life in the 19th century.
Discover frogs playing cards, around the coffee table, at the barber's, as soldiers ... The collection of 108 frogs presents satirical scenes of daily life in 1850.
An officer in Napoleon's Guard became interested in these batrachians in around 1850 and made them his hobby. He emptied the frogs through their mouths and filled them with sand before creating scenes with them.
These stuffed frogs are the main attraction of Estavayer-le-Lac's historical museum, but they only actually occupy part of it. The historical museum traces the history and folklore of the region with objects and arms from the bronze age and from the lacustrine age. There is also a large collection of lanterns and railway signals dating from 1880 to the present day.
