This interactive audiovisual exhibition explores the links between "the Cluniac trails" and the Way of Saint James, focusing on the shrines and relics found along the route, first-hand accounts from the Cluny era, as well as the practicalities involved in such a pilgrimage.
The exhibition also features a gallery of 180 photos that take the visitor on a virtual tour of the route from Payerne to Santiago de Compostela, as well as a series of one-metre-high cubes designed by pupils from local secondary schools in La Gruyère, which document their own very personal experiences and recollections of the pilgrimage.
At Payerne Abbey Church on Saturday 3 July at 4.30pm, Cluny expert Jean-Claude Simonin from Paray-le-Monial (France) will give a talk on the Cluniac contribution to the Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage.
