The star attraction of the Estavayer-le-Lac Museum is undoubtedly the collection of 108 stuffed and dressed frogs. As a result, the local history museum is now popularly referred to as the Frog Museum.
Visitors will be delighted to know that restoration work on the frog collection has been recently completed.
The Estavayer-le-Lac museum is also home to a treasure trove of exhibits that retrace the history of the medieval town, from its beginnings in the 15th century to the 1900s. Most of the collections were privately owned by local families. In the early part of the 20th century, these families entrusted their collections to the then brand-new museum of local history (May 1927) to ensure that this heritage could be preserved and enjoyed by the generations to come.
