Holiday program for families

Whether it’s water fun on the Schwarzsee, thrills in Charmey, fascinating glass art in Romont or a heart for animals in the petting zoo in Les Paccots – our holiday program for families will delight young and old. Fun and variety coupled with a large portion of adventure are guaranteed.

Day 1 – Schwarzsee

“The Lake Schwarzsee is not black at all, quick, I want to go there!” Julia beams when she sees the children playing in the lake. It is best to first explore the Schwarzsee via the Häxewääg (4.4 flat km). Seven legends are experienced up close, including the one of the giant with his dirty feet … The Häxeset includes a toboggan run. So much fun! There is also a lot going on on the Riggisalp: cheese is produced in the show cheese dairy in the morning, and then off to the new playground “Dragonland Kaiseregg” at the Bärghuus. Later everyone is looking forward to a meringue with double cream. They have to be huge, as served by the Hubel Rippa mountain hut.

Day 2 – Schwarzsee

Children can not be deterred from the water fun in the Lake Schwarzsee for long. Too tempting is the natural beach ‘Staldenmotta’ (10 minutes by foot) or the bathing beach with the wooden footbridge at the Gypsera. Here you can rent the trendy Stand Up Paddles, which are also available in children’s sizes. Those who prefer to explore the Lake Schwarzsee in the Swane-Pedalo can get it in the Hostellerie am Schwarzsee. This holiday picture will probably always be remembered! And when it’s raining? Then you log on to Raemy’s goat yard and spend the afternoon in the stable. The playful goats will be more than happy!

Day 3 – La Gruyère

Pure Adrenaline! The rope park of Charmey Aventures at the middle station of the cable car with seven courses for older kids and a mini course for 4 to 6 years old leaves no excitement. The valley of zip lines with panoramic rope lengths is unique in Switzerland! The start is at the Vounetse mountain station, where you can grab a bite in the Restaurant des Dents-Vertes before your adventure. Those who prefer the stay close to the ground can hike through the wild and romantic Gorges of the Jogne near Broc. Then you meet in the Bains de la Gruyère and relax together.

Day 4 – La Gruyère

Lake Gruyère is family-friendly on water and on land. For example, you can rent canoes, kayaks and stand-up paddles in Avry-devant-Pont, or go on an excursion with a cargo boat from the port of Ogoz. The Novilé app invites you to an informative treasure hunt on the walks around the lake. There is a lot prizes to be won! A rainy day? The opportunity to visit the Musée gruérien in Bulle; a lot of interaction and alpine culture does not let boredom arise. Or you give it a call in Broc and make a reservation at Maison Cailler. After all, chocolate always works!

Day 5 – Romont

A freely accessible glass educational trail leads along Romont’s city walls, which tells children everything about glass. You can experience what artists create with the fascinating material in the Vitromusée in Romont Castle. Why not try it yourself in a workshop? The Escape Room in the medieval tower of Fribourg guarantees thrills. The fairy path (2 km) through the forest at Chapelle is magical and very easy. There is a lot more green stuff in the barefoot garden Le Pied Total, where you can even spend the night in a tree bivouac. The perfect family adventure!

Day 6 – Les Paccots

A fun circular walk (Rand’eau, 3.5 km) leads from Lac des Joncs to nine posts with lots of interesting information about water. The path for connoisseurs is also feasible with children, provided they hike two hours to the Niremont viewing peak and like Fribourg’s specialties, including a fondue in the countryside. In the Cabane du Petit Oiseau there’s dessert for a treat and lots of animals to pet. By the way: If you like animals, you can take a walk with alpacas from Vuarat. The children will remember this for a long time!
